What is Grown Here Not Flown Here?

A portion of our profits go to local food banks and the FFA.

Sprouted in the heart of the farmland of West Michigan in April 2009, Grownherenotflownhere.com set out on a Mission. Our Mission is to support local farmers and farm stands, handcrafters, food artisans and consumers in their quest for a healthier, happier lifestyle and community. We believe that through information and communication we can bring people together, educate each other, keep our dollars local and find a new and better way to live on the Earth.

As we begin, we will be reaching out to everyone with the same strong desire and willingness to make the changes in their daily lives. Some of you began a long time ago, when you inherited the family farm. Some of you are motivated by your passion for cooking and great tasting fresh food. Some of you are concerned about the current state of our economy and see the importance of keeping our money working here. Some of you worry about the effects of the chemicals used in agriculture on the environment and the food supply. We are there with all of you.

Grownherenotflownhere.com will be a resource for finding local farms, farm stands, farmers markets, food artisans, organic growers, consumer supported agriculture, community gardens, meetings, current events, food storage ideas, when to buy what, recipes and food banks. By registering yourself and your business you will be joining a larger community of people with the same concerns. Our community will then be able to find and support each other quickly and easily.

There is a wealth of new information continually coming from all over that relate to issues that concern us here. From the plight of the small farmer to the environmental costs of shipping food thousands of miles, from unused inner city vacant lots to a growing hunger problem among us, we will be working hard to keep you updated and informed. We will also be actively marketing Grownherenotflownhere.com farther and wider while ensuring that local dollars stay local.
